EU Open Days: celebrating the EU/UNDP partnership

Every year in May, the European Institutions open their doors to the public in celebration of Europe Day. This initiative is called EU Open Days, which invites citizens to better understand the work of the institutions and raises awareness of the milestones of the European project.

We celebrate the occasion by highlighting the efforts of the EU/UNDP partnership to advance accountable public finance management systems in Portuguese speaking African countries (PALOP) and East Timor. This work is possible thanks to the project Pro PALOP-TL SAI, fully financed by the EU and administrated by UNDP. Pro PALOP-TL SAI provides technical assistance (e.g. through workshops and training sessions) to Supreme Audit Institutions (SAI), parliaments and civil society organizations in Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Principe and East Timor.

The project also facilitates e-Learning courses which are also available in Portuguese to ensure parliamentarians and other relevant stakeholders in the region have access to key information about a range of topics, such as the functioning of parliaments, public finance management, and open budgets, in Portuguese. The e-learning courses can be found at the AGORA portal:
