The four papers presented here are part of an ongoing series on legislative oversight issues. The first paper studies the link between democracy and oversight, between the number of oversight tools available to a parliament in a given country and the probability that that country is formally democratic or liberal democratic. A second paper highlights how (and in which conditions) Public Account Committees contributes to effective oversight of government accounts. The third essay analyses parliamentary oversight in the Israeli Parliament through the lens of two committees (the State Control Committee and the Education and Culture Committee). The fourth paper analyses parliamentary oversight of the defense and security system through the South-African example.
