This paper provides an outline of the relationship between the Parliament of Australia and the media that work there. It fits in the Australasian Study of Parliament Group 2007 Annual Conference. After the introduction, the author turns to the recognition of the role of the media, the federal parliamentary press gallery, the framework for media working at parliament, broadcasts of parliamentary proceedings, directed outreach through the media and outlook for the relationship.
