This paper presents the work of SIDA’s project group for political institutions. According to the original project description, the aim of the project was firstly, to analyse transition processes with regard to the political process rather than the political institutions, and, secondly, to suggest methods for supporting political processes. The focus lies on three of the main institutions acting within what could be called the political process, namely political parties, elections and parliaments.
