IT was a memorable occasion for the Immaculate Conception College community in Solevu, Bua when the Parliament's Civic Education and Media team visited them yesterday.

The team led by senior civic education officer Masilina Raumakita started their week-long outreach program to the North at the school.

School principal Kenesi Volavola said the students were privileged to have the group from Parliament visit them.

"We're really grateful for the Parliament's civic education and media team to bring Parliament to the school," she said.

"From the expressions of the children today (yesterday), they were amazed by the information that they have gathered.

"What they normally watch on television has been explained to them.

"Now they know terms associated with parliamentary procedures and I'm sure they will be looking forward to the next sitting as now they have a better understanding of Parliament proceedings."

Year 12 student Milika Ratu said she was happy to meet the team and learnt new things regarding Parliament.

"We are so blessed to have the Parliament team with us as we always watch them on television.

"Today we are inspired and motivated by their presentation," she said.

The highlight of the Parliament's outreach activities is the "Meet the Speaker" program that will be held today.

The Parliament outreach team will travel to Savusavu today.
