As Tongan voters prepare to head to the polls next month, the country's parliament has opened its doors to help the public understand what goes on when MPs are at work.

This week the community is being invited in to tour the parliament and meet MPs in an effort to raise the profile of the parliament's work and increase public scrutiny.

Several schools have got on board and it's hoped the tours will help get young people interested in politics.
