HOUSE Speaker Wade Mark encouraged secondary school pupils to be informed about the Parliament, Government and, specifically, the Members of Parliament who represent them.

Mark was the feature speaker at Williamsville Secondary School on Thursday during a Parliament School Outreach.

Pupils from Princes Town West Secondary School also attended.

The pupils viewed a video with information about the Parliament and Mark gave an address. There was a question and answer session in which several pupils participated.

Many questions were directed to Deputy Speaker and Member of Parliament for Princes Town Nela Khan.

Khan, told the pupils how she became an MP, advised the female pupils to guard themselves against male perpetrators who may want to harm them.

She also told them to have a role model or someone they can look to for advice.

Some of the questions pupils asked were: “What was being done for the homeless people in Princes Town?”

“Where can people go to learn how to defend themselves?” and “what programmes are in place for youths to learn more about Parliament?”
