Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), in collaboration with the University of Birmingham, invites you to attend the conference Deliberating Democratisation: Examining Democratic Change and the Role of International Democracy Support, which will be held on 7 and 8 March at the home of the British Academy, 10-11 Carlton House Terrace, London.
Keynote speakers include Marina Ottaway from the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and Louisa Greve, Vice President for Asia, Middle East & North Africa and Global Programs at the National Endowment for Democracy. Presenters will include leading academics, policy makers and practitioners based in the UK and overseas.
The conference is an opportunity to exchange ideas, not simply between research and practice, but also between the distinct communities of practice that have developed around providing support for legislatures, political parties, and civil society.
Panel and round-table discussions will cover:
- the role of international actors in democracy support
- the challenge of fostering institutional change
- new tactics for bridging the divide between academic research on democracy and the practice of democracy support
Additional information about the conference, including details of the venue and agenda can be found here.
