Webinar series: Transforming public debt management

The world is facing a potential new debt crisis. Twenty-five of the poorest countries spend more on debt repayments than on education, health, and social policy combined. Sixty percent of low- and middle-income countries are highly debt vulnerable. Breaking out of the current debt crisis and avoiding future ones will require a fundamental shift in oversight and accountability for the way that governments borrow and manage debt.

Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) is proud to launch a four-part webinar series, in collaboration with African Forum on Network and Debt Development (AFRODAD). This series is designed to explore the crucial intersection between public debt management and democratic governance, with a focus on transparency, accountability, and the role of civil society.

The series aims to bring together public debt practitioners, democratic governance experts, and key stakeholders to foster dialogue and share insights on how to manage debt in a manner that is sustainable, inclusive, and citizen oriented. Each webinar will delve into a specific aspect of public debt management, offering participants the opportunity to engage with experts and contribute to the broader discourse on effective governance and public financial management.
