The IPU, in partnership with the World Academy for Art and Science and the International Peace Bureau, is hosting a webinar to explore the "peace dividend"—the benefits of redirecting military spending toward essential social programs. Based on the IPU’s "Human Security and Common Security to Build Peace" toolkit, this session will discuss budgeting for peace, and help participants examine how resources redirected from weapons to areas like healthcare, education, and environmental protection can address the root causes of insecurity. The webinar will offer practical insights on advancing disarmament and development, fostering a global shift toward investment in human security and well-being.
