Women globally face weaker political engagement and influence than men, with women from non-majority communities experiencing compounded discrimination based on gender and ethnicity. In North Macedonia, this dual marginalization is pronounced, especially among Roma and Albanian women, due to entrenched patriarchal norms and traditional gender roles.

This study by the OSCE Mission to Skopje examines the political participation of these women, using surveys (1,002 respondents), interviews, and secondary data. It highlights systemic barriers and calls for action to create an inclusive society where all women have equal opportunities to influence public life. The report serves as a resource and catalyst for fostering diversity in leadership and empowering women.
