International Day of Parliamentarism / World Parliament Day 2025
The International Day of Parliamentarism, or World Parliament Day, is celebrated annually on 30 June, established in 2018 by the UN General Assembly and led by the Inter-Parliamentary Union. Past themes have highlighted public engagement with Parliaments, aligning with UN SDG 16.7's call for inclusive, participatory decision-making.
The CPA supports stronger connections between Parliaments and the public through its Engagement, Education and Outreach Handbook. CPA Secretary-General Stephen Twigg emphasized that World Parliament Day highlights the vital role of Parliaments in democracy, urging consistent public engagement and showcasing practical guidance for improved outreach.
