SRHR Funding Atlas 2022: A Guide to SRHR Donor Country Funding

The Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights Funding Atlas 2022: A Guide to SRHR Donor Country Funding was launched on 16th November 2022 at the International Conference on Family Planning 2022 in Pattaya City, Thailand.

This Atlas presents, in an accessible format, the most recent data on how the world’s most affluent countries are performing in meeting their commitments to provide funding for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) programmes in the world’s Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs).

Key aspects of this Atlas include:

  • The most recent and comparable data on donor countries spending on SRHR programmes around the world through both multilateral and bilateral development cooperation.
  • The data presented originated from donor country governments themselves, aggregated and verified within the OECD-DAC, and processed through an internationally recognised and authoritative methodological framework to track development aid on SRHR. The Atlas should thus provide a useful tool to ensure increased funding for bilateral and multilateral aid.
  • How each donor country performs is based on the allocation of 10% of development aid to SRHR. This goal of 10% is a political commitment, from parliamentarians from all political parties and from all countries around the world, that originated at the International Parliamentarians’ Conference on Implementing the ICPD Programme of Action (IPCI) which was first agreed 20 years ago in 2002 and has been regularly reaffirmed, including most recently in 2018.
  • An extensive contextual and historical background is provided for the reader on the long history of funding for SRHR.
