The AGORA Parliamentary Development Community of Practice will hold a workshop on "Measuring Parliaments’ Effectiveness within Democracy", online on 23 October 2024, from 14:00 to 16:15 CET. To register click here. 

This workshop will introduce participants to International IDEA’s Democracy Assessment Tools, including the Global State of Democracy (GSoD) Indices and the Democracy Tracker. These tools are designed to support parliaments in assessing democracy holistically, evaluating their performance, and contributing to broader democratic governance through up-to-date knowledge on developments impacting the core aspects of democracy in the countries of most importance to them.

The event will feature:

· A live demonstration of the GSoD Indices and Democracy Tracker, showcasing their application to parliamentary contexts.

· An interactive Practice Lab, where participants will engage directly with these tools.

· Expert discussions on the role of parliaments in democracy, focusing on how comparative indicators can better reflect parliamentary performance.
