This paper aims to shed some light on the practice of representation in the European Parliament. It examines the current situation and gives an overview of how this evolved. The author also dedicates a chapter on the ideal shares. Ideal shares are impossible to be met, so after this chapter the author turns to other methods and principles of how representation is done. The article concludes with some remarks concerning the implementation of such methods.
