This policy position of Transparency International (TI) looks at the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) and states that effective monitoring is essential to make these anti-corruption measures work. UNCAC represents a crucial step in building an international framework to combat corruption given its universal reach. But to make it work, UNCAC will require a follow-up process lasting many years and consisting of intergovernmental monitoring and technical support.
