Parliamentary monitoring organizations (PMOs) are beginning to play a great role in supporting parliamentary development. Parliamentary monitoring can have strongly positive effects on parliamentary performance; some PMOs have shown strong potential for strengthening dialogue between citizens and parliamentarians, other PMOs are adopting approaches that seek to proactively engage parliamentarians in the development of their assessment methodologies and many others also work with parliaments to support parliamentary strengthening and reform efforts.
