As public and fundamental institutions in any democratic system, political parties must be transparent in their daily procedures and management, in order to endorse themselves as responsible actors who are accountable to citizens for how and why they make the decisions that guide their actions.

NDI developed this document for all the political parties seeking to regain the trust of citizens by adopting Proactive Transparency practices on their websites. The document shares successful practices that political parties in Ibero-America have implemented to make the information they produce more transparent and to disseminate it in more attractive and understandable ways for citizens.

Although the document is aimed at political parties, it is also a resource for NDI staff to bring innovative technical assistance ideas to their country’s political parties in order to modernize their party websites.
