This study examines the financial burden of running for and maintaining political office in Uganda. It reveals that the cost of getting elected to parliament is 132% of an MP’s average annual salary, limiting opportunities for young candidates and political inclusivity.

The report offers recommendations to improve access to politics and is part of a global series by NIMD and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD). All reports are available on their joint Cost of Politics website.
