A Regional Workshop on “Parliamentarian Commitment to Security in Central America’ was held in Panama City, on October 26, 2010, in the framework of the Knowledge Fair “Commitment Central America”, bringing together 31 parliamentarians from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and Dominican Republic. The workshop is the result of a joint effort between the Central American Program for Small Arms and Light Weapons (CASAC), UNICEF TACRO Regional Office, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Participants debated on the role of parliaments in security, allowing them to share experiences and knowledge for collectively building the Central America Commitment Agenda, containing medium and long-term priorities and strategic lines.
