12th Empowerment Series for Young Parliamentarians- Zero tolerance for violence against women in politics.

Progress in achieving equal participation of women in decision-making remains slow. Women hold only 26.9% of parliamentary seats globally and face significant barriers, including violence targeting them for their political roles. The IPU has exposed widespread sexism and violence in parliaments, with 80-85% of surveyed women MPs reporting psychological abuse.

To address this, the IPU is hosting an online briefing on ending violence against women in politics, part of its Empowerment Series for young MPs and the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
