Electoral reform: democratic principles and global practice
Improving election quality is crucial amid democratic backsliding, yet reforms face resistance from incumbents, competing policy priorities, and public scepticism. While research often focuses on electoral laws, less attention is given to the reform process itself.
Hosted by the Electoral Integrity Project and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, this conference examines key challenges, principles, and strategies for democratic, transparent reform. It includes the launch of new global guidelines and case studies on successful and failed reforms, aiming to identify barriers and solutions for fair electoral processes.
