Embedding deliberation in political processes – lessons from Ireland
This IPEN seminar will examine Ireland's citizens' assemblies through the perspectives of the Houses of the Oireachtas and the Department of the Taoiseach. Speakers include Darren Lawlor and Charlotte Cousins, who will discuss the Oireachtas's role in establishing and managing the assemblies, and Cathal O'Regan, who will share insights from the Taoiseach’s department on the government’s evolving view of citizens' assemblies and their impact on policy and public engagement. The session will conclude with a Q&A on whether these processes are now permanently integrated into Irish politics.
