Gender-Responsive Budgeting & the Role of Parliaments

The AGORA Parliamentary Development Community of Practice invites you to the “Gender-Responsive Budgeting & the Role of Parliaments” Webinar, taking place on 24 January 2024, 14:00 – 17:00 CET / 08:00 – 11:00 EST online on Zoom.

Registration is open here.

The webinar is inspired by a panel of experts on parliamentary development and Gender-ResponsiveBudgeting: Kevin Deveaux and Geoff Dubrow, who co-authored the “Action Kit on Engaging Parliaments in Gender Responsive Budgeting” published by UN Women, and co-organised with INTER PARES | Parliaments in Partnership – EU Global Project to Strengthen the Capacity of Parliaments and Pro PALOP-TL SAI, UNDP.

The event will be an opportunity to discuss and promote lessons learned and good practices that help parliaments support a consistent approach to Gender-Responsive Budgeting implementation. Discussions will aim at identifying entry points for parliament to be an effective advocate for GRB throughout the budget cycleand incorporate gender-responsive budget documentation into its scrutiny role throughout the budget cycle. The webinar seeks to identify opportunities for participants to collaborate on potential GRB engagement.

The webinar will be both interactive and practical in nature and will provide practical tools for those working on GRB in and with parliaments – MPs; parliamentary staff; CSOs; and development partners.

English and Portuguese simultaneous interpretation will be available throughout the event.
