Parliamentary Monitoring in Tough Times: Lessons Learned for Building Networks and Achieving Results
Please join the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and Directorio Legislativo (DL) on Thursday, June 27 at 8:30AM EST/ 12:30 PM GMT/ 2:30 PM CET for discussion of the new report, Parliamentary Monitoring in Tough Times: Lessons Learned for Building Networks and Achieving Results. The report reviews existing evidence on the impact of parliamentary monitoring efforts, identifies political challenges including polarization and closing civic space, delves into the role of parliamentary monitoring organizations’ (PMO) networks and draws lessons from real-world initiatives.
The webinar will present a unique opportunity to showcase national and regional case studies from PMOs in Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe. Speakers will share their organizations’ experiences monitoring parliaments across varying degrees of democratic openness, tools for monitoring, achievements and lessons learned. Time will be reserved at the end for Q&A.
