Wesley Gibbings is a newspaper columnist, journalist, media trainer and press freedom advocate. He is the current President of the Association of Caribbean Media Workers. In his presentation, Mr. Gibbings discusses the role of journalists and the media in covering legislative issues and some challenges they may encounter when writing on such topics. Mr. Gibbings also presents actions and initiatives to foster stronger relations between journalists and legislatures. This presentation was recorded during the 14th Plenary Assembly of ParlAmericas: Parliamentary Actions to Promote Responsible Political Discourse, held in Medellin, Colombia, on November 16 and 17 of 2017.
