The Westminster Foundation for Democracy is the leading UK foundation in the field of political party development and parliamentary strengthening. Our priority is to build accountable and responsive democratic institutions which meet the needs of citizens, and to do so by developing strong local partnerships in the countries in which we work.

This year our work has taken us beyond our traditional programme regions of Africa, Europe and the Middle East to Asia, where we have developed and started to implement a tailored programme of support to the Bangladesh Parliament and political parties, with funding from the Department for International Development (DFID). We expect this programme to make a real difference not just in Bangladesh but also in the region more widely.
