In May 2012, the All Africa Parliamentary Conference on the Millennium Development Goals and Post-2015 Development Agenda was held.  Parliamentarians met in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to discuss the future role of parliament in a post-2015 development agenda.  With the MDG deadline approaching within the next 3 years, governments and international organisations are being called to recognize the vital role that Parliaments can play in realising MDGs.

During the conference, parliamentarians were called upon to agree on the most effective parliamentary structures and mechanisms to be used to maximize parliamentary involvement, both in the initial post-2015 development agenda consultations and later in terms of their legislative, oversight and representation role at the implementation stage.

As a result of these meetings, the attendees have produced several agenda setting documents.
