Legislative & Institutional Assessments of REDD+ Readiness in the DRC, Nigeria and Senegal

These three studies, produced with the support of the Global Environment Facility (GEF6) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), provide a comprehensive diagnosis of the legislative and institutional readiness of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Nigeria and Senegal for the implementation of Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) projects in their territories.

Even ahead of their launches in KinshasaAbuja and Dakar, their findings have been informing the work of legislators in these countries to address the gaps identified, which vary from country to country given their different stages of REDD+ preparedness (Senegal is in the process of becoming a REDD+ partner; whereas Nigeria has recently included REDD+ provisions in its new Climate Change Act).
