Common beliefs and principles behind the SDGs:  

People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership

The SDGs are based on the following beliefs and principles:

- The United Nations member states work together with a high level of cooperation to improve the circumstances of all people in the world, and place them at the core of future development.

- The United Nations member states wish to create a just, equitable and inclusive model of sustainable development for everyone. The main focus is on children and youth, regardless of their gender, race, ethnicity, disability, religion, culture and situation.

- The United Nations member states affirm their commitment to the principles of the UN charter- freedom, security and peace - and to international law and human rights declarations.

- The United Nations member states consider poverty and hunger the most critical world challenges and prioritize ending them. 

- Promote sustainable usage, protection, production and management of the natural resources are essential for sustainable development.

- Commitment to international conventions regarding the climate change and global warming, considering climate change as a challenge on the universal level.

- Pay special attention to least developed countries, and those facing conflicts and threats.

- Improve governance and the rule of law at the national and international levels for a sustained, inclusive and equitable economic growth, sustainable development and the eradication of poverty and hunger.

- Guarantee mobilization of resources for countries with limited resources and ability for development, by employing efforts and financing to reach sustainable development.

- Utilize cooperation and partnership among the states to provide support for each other in order to assure sustainable development.

- Take more effective measurements to assure the right of self-determination and to end foreign occupations as the action depletes national resources and prevents development.

- Provide special aid and attention to areas affected by emergency or terrorism.

- Work on collecting data on gender, income, age, race, ethnicity, migratory status, disability, and geographic location in order to better implement the SDGs and improve the accessibility to this data to monitor the implantation of the SDGs.
