Modernising the International Criminal Court: Crimes against the Environment, Trafficking in Human Beings, Hybrid Justice and Corporate Accountability

This project is the genesis of potential amendments of the Rome Statute to create a hybrid trial chamber within the Court, with a mixed composition of international and national judges, expand the Court’s jurisdiction to address the offences of ecocide and human trafficking, and expand its personal jurisdiction to hold corporations liable under criminal and civil liability or at least the latter at the reparations stage. This project also suggests ways in which the current statutory framework of the ICC could be used to tackle the abovementioned challenges.
