This report provides background information and a comprehensive needs assessment of the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea (PNG) in order to serve as a basis of a support programme to strengthen the role of Parliament in the country. In addition, the report will assist in the generation of key generic principles of best practice for Pacific Forum Country legislatures based on the notions of parliamentary democracy, participation, equity, accountability, transparency, efficiency, representation and fair elections.
