Chapter 4 of the book When and Why the State Responds to Women’s Demands: Understanding Gender Equality Policy Change in Indonesia.
This chapter discusses the advocacy processes for anti-violence laws and policies. At national level, the analysis focuses on the advocacy for Anti-Domestic Violence Law, 2004, the mobilization for and against the Anti-Pornography Law, 2008, and on the reform of existing laws on sexual violence. At subnational level, advocacy for policies opposing violence against women in the selected provinces and districts is discussed.
