This survey captures Hong Konger sentiments surrounding political and electoral developments at the end of 2020 after a turbulent year that transformed the future of democratic governance in Hong Kong. As safe and secure avenues for free speech and dissent in-person and online shrink in Hong Kong, there is an increased need to develop secure avenues for Hong Kongers to continue to voice their concerns to the international community. Through this survey, NDI aims to capture and amplify Hong Kong voices and to provide impartial data to global stakeholders to support a more nuanced understanding of Hong Kong citizens’ views in global policy discourse.
